Security of services, products and networks is taking on an increasingly important role in the digital sphere. The first EU-wide law on cybersecurity, the NIS Directive, came into force in 2016 and helped achieve a higher and more even level of security of network and information systems across the EU. With the recently presented Revision (NIS2) the EU Commission tries to strengthen it even further and aims to cover a much wider group of sectors, including providers of public electronic communications networks or services, social networking services platforms, space or postal and courier services. eco would like to discuss this new proposal, the shortfalls of NIS and what NIS2 tries to do better with an expert panel:

  • Lorena BOIX ALONSO, Director, Digital Society, Trust and Cybersecurity, DG Connect
  • Polly CAMERON, Head of Corporate Security, Strategy & Policy, Vodafone Group
  • Bart GROOTHUIS, MEP and rapporteur on NIS2
  • Klaus LANDEFELD, eco Board member
