The programme of the EIF Study Visit to Berlin will be aimed at offering EIF Political Members a real hands-on experience of today's state-of-the-art technologies and R&D sites within the European Union, as well as a deeper understanding of the conditions that allow the development of the appropriate ecosystem, with a reflection on the role of policy-makers.

The program will include high-level meetings and visits to university and company labs, as well as the participation in ‘The Long Night of Start-ups’.

PROGRAMME:  Thursday 5 September

Visit to Google Factory Start-Up; part of Google for Entrepreneurs platform which houses a number of startups; presentation by Google German Policy Team and meeting with start-ups.

Friday 6 September

Visit to Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI), the University Excellence Center for education and research ICT systems in Engineering in Germany (Potsdam): meeting with Professor Christoph Meinel, HPI Director and CEO and tour of the HPI. 

Visit T-Labs and Hub:raum of Deutsche Telekom, creating and supporting ICT related startups with capital, office facilities and infrastructure.

Visit to Nokia Berlin Lab: tour of facilities and presentation on factors contributing to Berlin’s increasing success as EU technology hub, with the City of Berlin officials and ‘Berlin Partner’ (organization of the Berlin’s administration, responsible for business/investor partnerships and relations); focus on city and government initiatives aimed at startups and on cooperation with tech companies and on Nokia’s start-up initiatives.

Saturday 7 September  

'Long Night of Start-ups', a night event aimed at the general public, as well as young talents from the areas of IT, finance, HR, marketing, legal affairs and others, including potential consumers and young entrepreneurs. The startups will present themselves and their products to a broad audience in a trade fair-like atmosphere. The location will have different themes/hubs: Communication, Cloud, Games, Music, Startups founded by women.
