Cybersecurity and Critical Information Infrastructure Protection are both of growing importance for the protection of governments, businesses and private individuals, both in the virtual and tangible world, particularly with fast evolution and use of ICT technologies that we face in the last years. Bearing in mind the importance of applying high standards for security, the EU bodies are currently involved in establishing the future Union strategy on the matter.
The participants will have the chance to hear European Parliament's and DG INFSO's views on the matter, particularly on their work on respectively a parliamentary report and on the establishment of the Commission's forthcoming Internet Security Strategy, as well as to hear from the ICT industry and research community with regards their practices and codes of conduct, their work on cooperation, education and public awareness, and their expectations towards the EU institutions and Member States.
