The new EIF report ‘The Digital World in 2030: What Place for Europe?’ will be released on 18 March and a launch event will be held in the European Parliament to mark the occasion with MEPs, EIF members and friends.
The report will be made available online at www.EIFonline.org and hard copies will be distributed to participants.
This report is the sequel to EIF’s report of five years ago, ‘The Digital World in 2025 - Indicators for European Action’ (2009). This new report will be published in time for this year’s European Parliament elections and the designation of a new Commission, and will look at the technology, economic, and socio-political dimensions of key digital trends. Our purpose is to incite legislators and particularly members of the next European Parliament - to become engaged in the policy implications of this “third industrial revolution”.

Many EIF members and invited guests have contributed to this EIF foresight exercise through a series of EIF debates over the past year. The authors of this report are Peter Linton, Advisor to EIF Governors and principal author of the ‘Digital World in 2025’, and EIF Advisor Ajit Jaokar. The report has been developed in synergy with the European Commission DG CONNECT’s ‘Digital Futures’ foresight project, and the ESPAS ‘Global Trends' report.
