Europe, with its high-quality manufacturing industry, can and should be the world leader in incorporating digitalization into product design, production processes, management and administration, logistics and other operations. And indeed, “Digitising European Industry” is a key initiative of the European Union.

At this lunch debate, EIF members will hear experts’ views on the successes and challenges the Union faces in bringing digitalization to Europe’s traditional manufacturing industries, including in particular the small and medium-sized enterprises that are the backbone of our manufacturing sector. Invited speakers will give their views about how digitalization is progressing “on the ground” and in the factories before inviting comments and questions.
