This event will provide participants with a de-briefing and an exchange of views on the 6th Internet Governance Forum in Nairobi (27-28 September) and the main internet policy issues currently being debated in this context.

The general theme of this year’s IGF is “Internet as a catalyst for change: access, development and innovation”, under which the following 6 key themes will be addressed with approx. 70 workshops: The Development Agenda / Internet Governance for development; Emerging issues; Managing critical internet resources; Security, openness and privacy; Access and diversity; and Taking stock and the way forward.

The EU active involvement in this process is ensured through a high-level institutional presence. In addition to the EP Delegation of 3 MEPs, Vice-President Kroes will be in Nairobi for the full duration of the meeting. The EC and the EP have worked in synergy to shape two workshops on cloud governance and the stability and resilience of the internet.
