Underpinning each objective in the European Union’s Digital Decade policy programme is digital skills. Whether in the specific targets for professionals or in the roll-out of technologies, there is a clear need for policies and partnerships to educate and skill Europe’s current and future workforce. The 2023 European Year of Skills provides an important impetus to move forward with skills policies.

In this context, the EIF is hosting a panel discussion, chaired by Chairperson of the Culture and Education Committee, MEP Sabine Verheyen, on how digital skills initiatives in schools. The discussion will consider how the different levels of governance across Europe can work together to equip and inspire young persons for their future careers, widen participation in STEM disciplines, and also ensure that we “teach our teachers”, all to raise the bar for digital skills across our education systems.
