Dinner with Mr Francisco Ros Peran, Spanish Secretary of State, Telecommunications and Information Society

EIF Dinner Debate

The ICT sector is gaining political importance and visibility and will play an even more prominent role in the coming years: while the European Commission is preparing its EU 2020 Strategy for the future of the digital economy (expected to be delivered in spring 2010), the European Parliament is working on a report on the digital agenda, due to be adopted in March 2010.

As a follow-up of the Swedish Presidency and its Visby Conference on the “Post-Lisbon i2010”, the incoming Spanish Presidency is also contributing to shape the digital agenda, with an Action Plan already renamed the “Granada Strategy”, after the name of the Spanish city where it will be launched in April 2010.

At this EIF dinner debate, participants exchanged views with Francisco Ros, Spanish Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Information Society, on what the crucial elements of the digital agenda will be, as well as on how it will bring concrete benefits to European citizens and businesses.
