The tenth annual meeting of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) was held in João Pessoa, Brazil, from 10 to 13 November 2015.The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) is a multistakeholder, democratic and transparent forum which facilitates discussions on public policy issues related to key elements of Internet governance among all interested stakeholders. The overarching theme of the 2015 IGF meeting retained “Evolution of Internet Governance: Empowering Sustainable Development".

During this breakfast debate participants of the IGF will provide the audience with a summary of the most important issues which were discussed during this meeting. In the light of the WSIS +10 process, the pending prolongation of the IGF as such and the IANA transition / Accountability discussion there are decisions ahead which will influence the global Internet governance eco system significantly.

This breakfast debate will be an opportunity to look into the following questions from a European perspective:

1. How can more awareness be raised for IG debates in European Parliaments and among all stakeholder groups?2. Which topics are relevant for Europe and how can we ensure to conduct an effective multistakeholder debate?3. How important are output documents from such debates?

Europe has the biggest concentration of national IG initiatives worldwide with more than 20 national IG initiatives. With the EuroDIG taking place in Brussels from 9-10 June 2016, all interested European stakeholders are invited to bring up their topics of interest on a regional level. EuroDIG is recognised as the European IGF and proved to be a source of inspiration for other regions.
