EIF Debate with Samsung CEO Oh-Hyun Kwon on 'Gearing up for the Fourth Industrial Revolution’

Lunch Debate

As part of EIF's ‘Meet the CEO’ series, EIF members and guests will have the opportunity to meet and exchange views with Dr. Oh-Hyun Kwon, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Samsung Electronics, on the potential and challenges of the so-called 'Fourth Industrial Revolution' enabled by technological innovation.

Dr. Oh-Hyun Kwon will present Samsung’s role as a major actor on the business scene worldwide that is aware of its responsibility to show strong leadership as we embark upon the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Samsung is acutely conscious of the need for ever-greater focus on adding value and ensuring synergies across all activities, thus building the foundations for future growth and tomorrow’s competitive edge. Samsung believes that the twin keys to success will be relentless R&D and open innovation - be this in big data, artificial intelligence, 5G, or high-performance semiconductors - because only through continued innovation and excellence can companies be of service to stakeholders and to society at large.

Dr. Kwon has been Chief Executive Officer of Samsung Electronics since 2012. In addition to overseeing the company in his role as the CEO, he continues to lead the Device Solutions Division of Samsung Electronics, which consists of the three component businesses: Memory, System LSI and LED. Dr. Kwon first joined Samsung Electronics’ Semiconductor Business in 1985 and has played a pivotal role in Samsung Electronics’ rapid advance in the semiconductor industry. Dr Kwon is an alumnus of Stanford University.
