Back to DEC

Outgoing European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen made the digital transformation one of the pillars of her mandate. But a true Digital Single Market is far from reality. The EU executive body has recently put forward a White Paper on the future of telecoms to overcome obstacles faced by networks providers such as lack of investments and fragmentation, among others.

Questions to be addressed include:

  • What should be the top priorities of the next Commission to speed up the digital transformation?
  • Are the results of the European election relevant for Europe’s digital agenda?
  • What can the new mandate do to nurture Europe’s to help drive take-up of innovative services?
  • Increased connectivity is essential to surf the technological revolution wave. Where are the investment needs? Where are the roadblocks for private investment?
  • What should be the next step on the Commission’s White Paper on the future of telecoms? Should the EU take legislative action?
