‘One World. One Net. One Vision.’ This is the overarching motto of this year’s IGF to be hosted by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy in Berlin from 25 to 29 November.

We are looking forward to the 14th edition of the IGF and can expect some surprising elements. With the High-Level Leaders track on day zero the host revitalises the Ministerial Meeting of the early days of the IGF but in a more open manner including all stakeholders. As of today, an impressive number of Ministers and CEOs from across the world have confirmed their participation.

Also, we are expecting around 80 Members of National Parliaments (MPs) from across the world to attend. While some special sessions will be organised for Parliamentarians, the main objective remains to get legislators involved in the IGF overall programme in order to overcome the gap between the discussions and the decision-making level.

The programme was shaped in a more compact way around three focus areas:

  • Data Governance;
  • Digital Inclusion;
  • Security, Safety, Stability & Resilience

But we will also see references to the Paris Peace Forum or the report “The Age of Digital Interdependence” of the High-level Panel on Digital Cooperation in the programme.

This IGF preparatory debate will provide a very timely opportunity to learn and exchange views and insights with Internet Governance experts and relevant stakeholders ahead of the IGF discussions in Berlin.
