Martin Chatel joined ETSI in February 2025 as Chief Policy Officer, leading the Policy Affairs Department. ETSI, a European (ESO) and globally recognised Standards Development Organisation (SDO) with 900+ member organisations and 100+ partners, develops globally applicable standards for digital technologies in areas like 5G/6G, IoT, cybersecurity, AI, trusted data, eID, radio, and quantum technologies. Martin’s mission is to strengthen ETSI’s leadership in ensuring that digital standards reflect industry needs, support policy objectives, and keep pace with global technological developments. He leads ETSI’s strategic engagement with European institutions, EFTA, CEPT, global SDOs, industry associations, and societal stakeholders, and oversee international cooperation projects and partnerships. He is a graduate of Sciences Po Paris and the Brussels Institute of European Studies.
