ABOUT

Ilias Chantzos serves as Senior Director of Government Affairs for Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) and Asia Pacific Japan (APJ) regions. In addition, he is the Global Advisor for Critical Infrastructure and Data Protection. Ilias represents Symantec before government bodies, national authorities and international organizations advising on public policy issues with particular regard to information security, critical infrastructure, cyberdefense and privacy. Before joining Symantec in 2004, he worked as legal and policy officer in the Directorate General Information Society of the European Commission on a number of legislative initiatives and international agreements relevant to information society and cybersecurity. He started his career working as an attorney in law firms and in-house. Ilias is a qualified barrister and a member of the Athens Bar. He holds a law degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a Master’s degree in Computers and Communication Law from Queen Mary College in the University of London, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Solvay Business School. He served as Chairman of the Executive Board of TechAmerica Europe and served for four terms as Chairman of the European Policy Council of Business Software Alliance (BSA). He is a member of the Permanent Stakeholders Group of the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) and sits at Europol’s European Cybercrime Center (EC3) Advisory Board. He has extensive experience in Public Private Partnerships with governments and international organizations like NATO and ITU. Ilias is a member of the Young Global Leaders 2014 class of the World Economic Forum. He speaks Greek, English, Dutch and German.
