Richard Ward is responsible for IBM’s government affairs programmes for the United Kingdom. Based on London, he has responsibility for the relationship with the UK Government, dealing with policy issues affecting IBM and broader UK business. He is the industry Vice-Chair of the Digital Policy Alliance working group on Data Protection and has coordinated the creation of the position paper.
He has spent the majority of his career in IBM in a variety of technical, sales and management roles as well as a period in government in the UK as an advisor on regulatory policy.
Ward has a particular interest in data protection and cyber security and on the impact of regulation on innovation.
He holds a degree in Physics from the University of Leeds.
