Otto Vollmers, LL.M., studied law in Marburg, Paris and Wellington. In 2006 he joined the "Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle Multimedia-Diensteanbieter e.V.” (FSM) as legal expert. Since 2011 Vollmers is managing director of the FSM. The FSM is a state acknowledged association dedicated to the protection of minors in online media.

Otto Vollmers is as well second manager of fragFINN e.V., an association aimed at developing a secure surfing environment, treasurer of the association “Deutschland sicher im Netz”, an association committed to IT-security under the patronage of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, speaker of the commission of experts of the “Online Child Protection Centre” under the patronage of the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs, and member of the advisory board of klicksafe, the German awareness node.
