Steven is an accidental geographer. He got involved with Global Positioning Systems (GPS) in the early 90s and has been working with global location projects since that time. After spending 10 years building an international software company called 1Spatial he worked for a global, non-profit, standards development organization focussed on location; authoring a guidance document on standards relevant to the EU INSPIRE Directive. He was Managing Director of the international division of Great Britain's national mapping agency, Ordnance Survey. Steven is also a senior consultant for the World Bank (open standards and mapping) and a Visiting Professor at the Institute for Future Cities at the University of Strathclyde in Scotland, UK. He's a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (RGS) and a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
