ABOUT

Mr. Moisa is a Member of the European Parliament, representing the S&D Group, and an active member of the Committee on International Trade (INTA) and of the Delegation for Relations with the US. During his previous tenure as deputy Head of Cabinet of the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, begun in February 2010, Sorin Moisa participated at political level in the major international commercial bilateral (Canada, Japan, South Korea, the United States, Mercosur) and multilateral (WTO, the Doha Round) negotiations of the European Union. He participated in the political and technical negotiations on the reform of the European Union's Common Agricultural Policy and also followed and shaped the opinion of the Ciolos Cabinet on all major political and European / international public policy files on the Barroso II Commission agenda. He directly contributed to the rapprochement of the Republic of Moldova to the EU, to the liberalization of the EU wine market for Moldova, as well as to the negotiation of a Free Trade Agreement allowing the effective integration of the economy of Moldovan with the European economy. An economist by profession, Mr. Moisa graduated from the Academy of Economic Studies of Bucharest, the Faculty of International Economic Relations. He also completed the Master's program in International Relations at the Bucharest National School of Political and Administrative Studies and has completed his doctoral thesis in International Relations at Oxford University, with a thesis dealing with the European Union as a transformative actor in the context of the EU’s enlargement with the former communist countries.
