ABOUT

Antonio Nicoletti is the General Director of the Regional Agency for Territorial Development of Basilicata.
Formerly, he was director for Strategic Programs and EU Funds at the Municipality of Matera. In such role, he has coordinated urban innovation projects and most of the city’s strategic investments for the European Capital of Culture 2019. 

He is a civil engineer and PhD in Urban and Regional Planning; his main research and professional interests are focussed on cultural heritage management for socio-economic innovation and development in urban contexts.
He worked for years in projects of strategic planning, cultural planning, international cooperation, with a growing focus on culture and social commitment as tools for urban innovation. 

As short term lecturer (2005-2015) and short-term researcher (2012-2013) in the University of Basilicata, he has investigated on how to produce common goods through the engagement of citizens in cultural and creative processes. His research has also been focussed on the evaluation of the effectiveness of such processes.
He worked as policy adviser for Public Administrations at regional level (Apulia and Basilicata) and city level (responsible for EU policies and Culture in the Strategic plan of the Metropolitan City of Bari; responsible of the Integrated Plan for Urban Sustainable Development of the city of Matera). His activity as freelance consultant (project designer and project manager, also for private foundations) has been rooted in EU-funded projects and processes.
