Our economy and society in Europe are ever more dependent on information as the fuel for their development and success. As the data revolution continues apace, the debate about how to protect this information and with it our individual privacy and collective security, whether from cyber-attacks or misuse, is really only just beginning.
Responding properly to these challenges is therefore anticipated to feature highly among the key priorities of the new European Commission, due to enter office in November.
This debate, followed by a cocktail reception, will take place in the context of the European Cyber-Security Month to discuss and reflect on if and how these challenges can be successfully overcome to ensure that privacy and security can indeed survive in an age where data rules.
Hosted by MEP Andreas Schwab, with the participation of Director Paul Timmers, responsible for Sustainable and Secure Society, DG CONNECT, and Symantec’s Senior Vice-President for EMEA, Matt Ellard, this event will also offer opinion and insight from Symantec which aims to offer a fresh and critical perspective on these highly pressing issues.
