The theme of the dinner debate will be the proposed EU Cyber Security Act. The respective draft legislation by the European Commission’s proposes inter alia an expansion of the mandate of ENISA and a framework for the creation of harmonized EU cybersecurity certification schemes with the overall view to advance cybersecurity and to increase the trust in digital products and services.

The legislative proposal has raised a controversial debate among policy-makers, industry and other stakeholders on various issue, which will certainly be discussed at the debate. Issues to be discussed include the role of ENISA vis-à-vis national cybersecurity agencies, the scope and priorities for cybersecurity certification schemes, the role of industry in the development of those schemes and how these European efforts can be aligned with trading partners towards a much needed global approach on cybersecurity.
