On 15 December 2020, the EU Commission presented its proposal for a Regulation on contestable and fair markets in the digital sector – the Digital Markets Act (DMA). The DMA is creating a complementary regulatory regime defining obligations (do’s and don’ts) for large, systemic online platforms, so-called gatekeepers, and proposes two types of obligations: more specific and self-executing obligations, and obligations that are more general, which require further specification.
