The European Union has a unique opportunity to drive digital transformation, unlocking the full potential of the single market and establishing a robust digital framework that safeguards fundamental rights and values. The future digital omnibus is a key tool to achieve this goal.

A Multidisciplinary Approach

The parameters of simplification require a comprehensive societal debate, encompassing both future policymaking and current frameworks. Cutting red tape and addressing compliance roadblocks is a start, but more can be achieved. A comprehensive and ambitious simplification in the digital area requires meticulous assessments and evaluations of overlaps, inconsistencies, and gaps that can hinder innovation, compromise fundamental rights and diminish competitiveness.

To achieve a balanced approach, the panellists will focus on three critical areas:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI): Harnessing its potential while ensuring accountability and transparency
  • General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): Balancing data protection with innovation and economic growth
  • Cybersecurity: Safeguarding against threats while promoting trust and cooperation

Through expert insights and collaborative discussions, we aim to establish ambitious expectations for a comprehensive plan that benefits all stakeholders.
